In the blink of an eye, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has fulfilled an “old promise” to the people in Bagan Serai with an allocation of about RM7.3mil for various development projects.
Speaking to about 5,000 people during a Majlis Kenduri 1Malaysia in Kampung Parit Haji Taib, Najib said he would allocate RM4.5mil to build a multi-purpose hall and RM2.5mil for a new mini sports complex, which had been promised years ago.
“I have a debt that I need to pay off to the people here. I have checked with the Implementation Coordina-tion Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department and received the clearance to allocate the money to help the people here,” he said.
He also announced the allocation of RM200,000 to various religious schools in the district and another RM80,000 for the Galeri Melayu Banjar museum.
In his speech, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the people were touched by Najib’s presence in the state.
“This is not the first time he is here in the state.
“He has been here countless times and will always allocate funds for development projects to help the people of Perak,” Dr Zambry said, adding that the people were grateful to Najib.
“He cares for the people,” added the Mentri Besar.
