Friday, 03 February 2012 23:13
Penang plans to develop a research and innovation incubator (PRII) centre on a 0.97ha site opposite the Motorola plant at the Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said such a centre could help the state attract new investors in cutting-edge technologies and to reduce dependence on labour-intensive industries.
“We will issue a request for proposal for the project by Feb 14.
“The development of the PRII is in tandem with the state’s vision of becoming an intelligent and international city,” Lim told a press conference yesterday.
