RESIDENTS of Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur can now seek assistance and help from the newly-opened 1Malaysia Service Centre (PK1M) located in Taman Connaught.
Selangor MCA Public Services and Complaint Department head Datuk Theng Book said the centre, which opened on Jan 1, was aimed at providing services to the community, especially the lower- income group.
“The people here have been neglected for years as the Bandar Tun Razak MP Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is too busy handling other issues. Some of the people here do not know where to go to sort out their licensing issues or rubbish dumping problems.
“Since the centre opened its doors, the response has been encouraging.
“We are here to provide efficient services to the people and we are making this our priority,” he told reporters after distributing calligraphy couplets and mandarin oranges to the public and traders at Taman Len Sen wet market in Cheras on Saturday.
“We have set up more than 10 booths in low-cost housing areas and flats in December last year to distribute application forms for the RM500 1Malaysia People’s Welfare Aid (BR1M).
“More than 5,000 forms were distributed and so far, we have received over 1,000 applications. For the elderly and those who do not have any means of transport, we are helping them submit forms to the Inland Revenue Board,” he said, adding that the centre has a team of 20, out of which two were on full-time basis.
When asked about his role in the party for the coming general election, Theng who is also the centre’s chief and vice chairman for Puchong MCA said: “We will work hard for Barisan to win this election. It is pertinent to be more action-orientated and go down to the grassroot level to help the community.”
Theng said the team was also looking forward to the opening of a PK1M in February, which will be located at Taman Tenaga.
The PK1M in Taman Connaught is located at No 56A, 1st floor, Jalan Cerdas. For details, call 03-9018 7913 or email
