A resident along Lorong Burma in Penang claims he is now in constant distress over the alleged noise pollution emanating from a restaurant and a cafe in the same neighbourhood.
The resident who only wanted to be known as Vincent, aged 50, said the live music started from 8pm and only ended in the wee hours of the morning.
“I have three schooling children aged 11 to 19 and two of them are sitting for their SPM and STPM. They could not even study in peace as the noises are unbearable.
“My family could not even watch television or have a decent conversation when the live music starts,” said Vincent who is a company director.
He added that he complained to the Pe-nang Municipal Council (MPPP) twice and was told that the council would look into the matter.
MPPP Public Health Standing Committee alternate chairman Ong Ah Teong said the council had inspected the premises last November.
“We will issue warning letters to the outlets to lower the volume if the complaints are valid,” he said.
