KUALA LUMPUR: The opening of the Masjid Khalid Ibnu Al-Walid"s extended prayer hall was made more significant when throngs of Muslims came by to participate in the sacrifice of 14 cows, held in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Adha.
The mosque, which was built in the 1970s, underwent renovations recently and also had a new building added to it.
"This is the first time we are doing the sacrifice in the mosque.
"I am glad of the good turnout," mosque director Col Haji Nawawi Daud, 50, said at the Korban and Aqiqah ceremony yesterday. It was held after the annual Aidil Adha morning prayers.
Royal Malaysian Air Force chief Gen Tan Sri Rodzali Daud, who officiated at the event, sponsored a cow for the ceremony.
Among those who received the meat was an office cleaner.
"I have five school-going children to feed and do not earn much," Wati said.
"I will put make the most of the meat," she added.
