A PILE of debris from a road-upgrading project left at a junction in Section 17, Petaling Jaya, has become an eyesore.
The pavement around the food court at the junction of Jalan 17/1A and Jalan 21 has been upgraded recently and Section 17 resident Vincent Soong said the debris had been left there for almost a month.
“Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) effort to improve Jalan 17/1A is appreciated as they have covered the drains to build a pavement for pedestrians but the pile of debris is becoming unsightly.
“Even the project signboard has been left at the busy junction where most motorists turn in from Jalan17/21,” said Soong, 62, who has been living in Section 17 for almost 30 years.
Soong said the some of the shop owners facing the Rukun Tetangga community centre had complained that the upgrading work had caused part of the ground to cave in.
He said the contractor carrying out the upgrading work should be more responsible and not leave the area in such a state.
When contacted, MBPJ public relations officer Zainun Zakaria said the contractor was carrying out final touch-up work in the area.
“They will remove the debris before Chinese New Year,” she said.
